K.K. Hebbar Indian, 1911-1996
Further images
The peacock is a recurrent motif in Hebbar’s artworks, representing the joys of living.
The vibrant colour palette of this peacock dancing with its majestic tail is a reminder of nature’s glory!
The abstraction of the painting is beautifully translated through a myriad of thread and bullion techniques following the direction and the detailing of the brush strokes.
The unfurled feathers and the body of the peacock are enhanced with raised stitches giving them depth and dimension. This artwork took approximately 3000 hours of handwork to be completed.
