Ram Kumar Indian, 1924-2018
Further images
Ram Kumar has captured the rawness of nature in this artwork with the abstract brush strokes reminding us that the beauty of nature cannot be defined in words or definite lines. The landscape may serve as a metaphor for human emotions, existential dilemmas, and the ever-changing dynamics of life.
Yarns of 2-3 colors are twisted together to achieve the realistic shading as in the original painting. A combination of cotton and silk threads and bullion is used to create textures and depth bringing the artwork to life. Variations of satin stitch, spring stitch, knots and chain stitch are used in a way to match the brush strokes. This piece took approximately 2500 hours of handwork to be completed.
