    Thematic Exploration

"Weathering Waves" is a journey through Sri Lanka’s lush landscapes and its colonial past. Inspired by the ancient term Taprobane, Udagedara’s works intertwine land and sea, tropical flora, and historical imprints, capturing the essence of resilience and beauty.

    Signature Embroidery Elements

Each piece in this exhibition is reimagined through an intricate array of cotton and silk thread stitches, masterfully hand-embroidered by Milaaya Art’s karigars. Techniques such as knots, loops, chains, springs, satin, and cross stitches bring floral motifs to life, infusing the works with a tactile dimension.

Delicate embroidery weaves in elements of the seascape theme, such as waves, ships, and rippling currents, creating a seamless connection to Udagedara’s previous series. These details enrich the narrative layers of the artwork, inviting viewers to experience both visual and textural depth.
