The stories of women valiant in their courage to overcome the oppression of patriarchy are potent imprints of significance and etch powerful legacies to emulate and imbibe. It is these many stories within which I have been cradled - nurtured in the belief that my life is of value, that empowers my perception to seek to know the world as it is.
My work celebrates all aspects of womanhood and explores the many avatars that female empowerment embraces. I hold constant the desire to examine the feminine space of survival, the spirit of female endurance and the empowerment of pride and self-dignity that centuries of feminist oral histories are infused by - and which is the territory from which my work takes shape. I carry the legacies of a female history with a conscious alertness, which led me very early in my personal journey to a space of belonging where the bedrock of my feminist beliefs could take root.”
