The 7th-century Bamiyan Buddhas, monumental statues destroyed by the Taliban in 2001, epitomize the tragic and irreversible loss of cultural heritage to extremism. Towering over a remote valley for over 1,300 years, these statues, along with intricate murals in nearby caves, represented the pinnacle of Buddhist art and devotion.

Their destruction not only obliterated masterpieces of human creativity but severed a vital connection to a shared heritage - a void that no restoration or memory can ever truly fill

French knots and an array of intricate micro-stitches are meticulously crafted to translate the fragmented essence of the artwork into embroidery. Strategically raised elements add depth, creating the illusion of shattered walls and fractured sculptures. This beautiful work took 6000 hours to complete.
