Vanitas in Repose reimagines the classical theme of abundance, contrasting the opulence and luxury of the Anthropocene with the serene presence of Edenic figures.
The artisans at Milaaya meticulously brought this vision to life over 150 days using an array of hand embroidery techniques, including tufting, French knots, satin stitches, and beading. The incorporation of multi-media fabrication further enriches the piece. The raised elements and diverse textures lend depth and dimension, enhancing the visual and tactile experience. This masterpiece captures the tension between contemporary indulgence and the serene elegance of a bygone paradise, skillfully rendered through expert craftsmanship. This artwork took 8500 hours of handwork to be completed.
